The brief

Bringing together teams that never meet.

The group's Lyon office runs very different trades across several departments and sites. People know each other by email and meet on video calls.

They wanted an evening that put everyone at the same table, without role play or icebreakers, and that left something behind other than a memory of the buffet.

What we built

An image nobody sees until the end.

We designed a mosaic of Place Bellecour — the equestrian statue, the ochre ground, the perspective — then cut it into as many panels as there were tables. Twelve thousand pieces, 1.8 metres by 1.

Each participant gets a panel and a laying plan. They work on a few square centimetres and have no idea what it shows: at that scale, a fragment of cobblestone and a fragment of sky look much the same.

The assembly happens right at the end, panel by panel, in front of everyone. That is the moment the room understands what it has just made.

The outcome

Hanging in their Lyon offices.

The mosaic did not leave with us. It is framed and hung in AECOM's Lyon premises, where the people who were there that evening can point out their own panel to those who were not.

« A wonderful team activity that gave us back a child's sense of wonder for an evening. A great moment of togetherness, but also artistic and genuinely instructive! »
