Discovering by handling
School workshops offer a simple, accessible way into a concept, a place, an idea. Building becomes a teaching tool: you assemble, you try, you watch, you understand. It makes tangible what is abstract, creates a moment of active learning, and opens the way to curiosity.
Learning by building together
The workshop extends, in a tangible way, what the class is already working on. Pupils build in small groups and have to agree if the whole is to stand up: cooperation comes of itself, because the result depends on it. Everyone finds a role, including those who usually take little part. Teachers often make the same remark to us: on that day, it is the quietest ones who speak first.
A simple setting for the teacher
The running order is prepared with you, from your curriculum and your year group. You know before the session what will happen and in what order, and nothing is improvised on the day. You provide a room, tables and light; we bring everything else, protective covers included. Your own staff stay present as the rules require, without having to run anything.
Unibrick has worked with…
a school wanting to give substance to a subject on the curriculum. The session extended the work of the class, and what was built stayed at the school.
