A target announced in the morning, a piece rising all day, and visitors coming to see where it has got to. Everyone lends a hand for a few minutes, adds a piece, comes back later to see the progress. The result belongs to everyone: a collective scene, visible from the aisles, that gives the day its rhythm.
A piece that grows in front of the public
The XXL challenge offers a cheerful way of bringing a site together around a single goal. The piece starts low and rises hour by hour: that alone is enough to draw people in. You stop on your way past, add your part, come back later. Our facilitators call out the count, pick things up again when the crowd thins, and the mood stays easy. Anyone can take part, at any age, with no complicated brief.
A thread running through the whole event
Over several days, the target is broken down day by day. You have something to announce each morning and a different image each evening, with nothing to organise. The public follows the progress and passes the word along, often better than any communication could. The last element is set in place in front of those who built the rest: a simple, legible, unifying finish.
